Smoltz Hurls Shutout
Today was John Smoltz's turn in the rotation for the Orlando Sun Rays and he made the most of it, shutting out the New York Yankees on 2 hits.

The 25-year-old right-hander led the Sun Rays to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 11 strikeouts.

"I hope we miss him next time," New York manager Patrick McQuail said. "Smoltz certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

So far this season Smoltz has a 7-7 record, 17 starts, 128.2 innings, 138 strikeouts and a 3.50 ERA.
