Twins Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Royals
|
Kansas City pitcher Denny Neagle gave the Twins all they could handle, but in the end, Minnesota left Metrodome with a 4-2 win. Neagle allowed 3 earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings. Minnesota reliever Doug Piatt picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Denny Neagle took the loss. Norm Charlton got the save, his 9th in 10 chances.
Minnesota pinch hitter Todd Zeile had a key at-bat for the Twins in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Kansas City pitcher John Habyan, Zeile hit a 3-run home run to make the score 4-2, Minnesota. For the day, he was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Zeile called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
Minnesota is now 35-51.
