Royals Topple Cardinals with Late Rally
The Kansas City Royals topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-5, in Federal League action at Busch Stadium. The player of the game was Kansas City pitcher Rick Reed. The Royals own a robust 57-30 mark.

It could have been a different outcome for Kansas City, had it not been for Orlando Merced, the 25-year old right fielder . Merced contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Kansas City up, 6-5.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Reed told the Kansas City Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
