The 1992 season is getting ugly for Montreal.

Behind a solid performance from shortstop Gary Sheffield, the New York Mets defeated the Montreal Expos, 14-4. Sheffield was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 for the Mets. Paul Abbott, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 7-3.

Sheffield came through with some timely hitting for New York. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and no one down, Sheffield hit a 2-1 slider for a grand slam home run. His 20th home run of the season made it 6-2, New York.
