Cincinnati Reds starter Jose Rijo turned in an exceptional performance against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, resulting in a Cincinnati win, 4-1. Rijo, the winner, moves to 10-4. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. The third-place Reds have won 5 straight.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Dave Nilsson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch.
