Texas turned a good effort from starter Bret Saberhagen into a win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The final score was 10-1. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 25-66 record.

Phil Plantier came through for the Rangers in the top of the third inning. With Texas leading 3-1, the right fielder had a 2-run home run.

Plantier said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
