Royals Walk Off with Win
|
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Roger Clemens, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City won the Royals Stadium contest, 4-3. Clemens was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Kansas City reliever Tim Crews picked up the win, upping his record to 3-6. Steve Bedrosian absorbed the loss. Kansas City has now won 4 straight.
The Royals beat the Red Sox with some clutch hitting. The home run by Barry Larkin in the bottom of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Larkin gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Larkin told the Kansas City Daily News.
