Sun Rays Lose, 4-2, at Comiskey Park
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at Comiskey Park, knocking off the Orlando Sun Rays, 4-2. Starting pitcher John Burkett was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Burkett, now 6-10. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. The White Sox bumped their record to 49-49 with this latest triumph.
Ruben Sierra put Chicago in front, 2-0, when he took Kevin Appier downtown. His solo home run came with one out in the bottom of the sixth. It was his 14th home run of the season.
"Enjoyed this one," Burkett told the Chicago Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
