Toronto Blue Jays starter Teddy Higuera pitched a strong game against the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum, leading the Blue Jays to a 3-2 win. Higuera got the win, improving to 11-6. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. Higuera allowed 2 earned runs. Jeff Keener got the save, his 22nd in 24 chances.
Toronto grabbed control in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Mike Greenwell delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 3-2 in favor of the Blue Jays.
After the game, Toronto manager Jose Mata applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The second-place Blue Jays improved to 53-44.
