Royals Jolt Red Sox with Late Rally
The Boston Red Sox got a sterling performance from first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, but the Royals still prevailed, 8-7. Palmeiro was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Royals have an impressive 64-33 record.

Kansas City took a 8-7 lead on Danny Tartabull's 27th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Tartabull hit in the bottom of the ninth, left Boston pitcher Mark Huismann visibly frustrated.

"This wasn't a good win," said Tartabull. "It was a great win."
