Brewers Get Road Win, 4-1
|
The Milwaukee Brewers trumped the New York Mets, 4-1, at Shea Stadium. Milwaukee catcher Darrin Fletcher was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Milwaukee reliever Bobby Thigpen picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-4. Bob Milacki was collared with the loss. The Brewers bumped their record to 52-47 with this latest triumph.
With Milwaukee leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Fletcher came up to bat against New York pitcher Dave Beard. Fletcher hit a fastball to right-center for a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season put the Brewers on top, 4-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Fletcher told the Milwaukee Bulletin.
