San Francisco Loses, 2-1, Despite Fulgham Performance
|
San Francisco got a terrific performance from pitcher John Fulgham, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Senators. Washington won the Candlestick Park contest, 2-1. Fulgham was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. Jay Howell got the save, his 13th in 17 chances. The Senators move to 41-58 with the win, while the Giants drop to 51-50.
The Giants got a complete game from starter and former first round draft pick Fulgham. It wasn't good enough, though. Fulgham suffered a tough loss despite allowing only 2 hits and striking out 9.
