Berroa Goes on Rampage Against Reds
|
Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day, so it was a special occasion for Cardinals's Geronimo Berroa at Busch Stadium today. Berroa put up a 5-for-8 line against the Cincinnati Reds, swinging the bat with authority all day despite his club's eventual 7-6 loss.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Berroa said after the game. "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but it's disappointing to lose."
Disappointed or not, he still gets his name in the record books. Geronimo Berroa singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and singled in the 15th.
Berroa's current batting average stands at .292 and he has chalked up 14 home runs and 55 RBIs.
