Expos Win at San Francisco, 8-5
The inspired effort of San Francisco second baseman Billy Ripken was not enough to prevent a 8-5 loss to the Montreal Expos. Ripken was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Pete Schourek went 6 innings for Montreal to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 5 earned runs. He scattered 10 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record improves to 4-14. Trevor Wilson notched his 1st save in 1 chances.

Gary Gaetti had a go-ahead double for Montreal in the top of the sixth inning. With two out and the bases loaded, the slick-fielding third baseman hit a bases-clearing double off Butch Henry. His 11th double of the season made the score 4-3.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Gaetti.

Montreal, at 40-65, occupies last place in the United League East Division.
