Reds Need Extras to Top Sun Rays
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the Orlando Sun Rays, 4-3, in Federal League action at Riverfront Stadium. The player of the game was Cincinnati pitcher and Raleigh, North Carolina native Scott Bankhead. The Reds go to 56-53, putting them third in the Federal League East Division.
With two out in the bottom of the 11th, Bernie Williams had a game-changing hit. The Reds right fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Rod Beck, making the score 4-3, Cincinnati.
"We take it day by day here," said Williams, "and today was a good one for us."
