Valenzuela Dazzles in Texas Win

Spirited fans at Wrigley Field greeted the Chicago Cubs for their clash with the Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers defeated the Chicago Cubs, 8-1, in Federal League action at Wrigley Field, with Texas pitcher Fernando Valenzuela named player of the game. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 31-82 record.

Valenzuela pitched a complete game for Texas. The 31-year-old left-hander was charged with 1 run on 2 hits. He struck out 7 during his 110-pitch performance.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Sean Norman said.
