Reds Turn Back Red Sox, 4-2
Cincinnati starter Juan Nieves pitched effectively against the Boston Red Sox at Riverfront Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Todd Worrell notched his 10th save in 14 chances. Cincinnati is now 57-54, while Boston is 68-45.

The Red Sox had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Reds going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That changed quickly when the top prospect Matt Stairs came to the plate. Stairs hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 changeup from Boston hurler John Smiley. It was Stairs's 11th double of the year.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Nieves.
