Padres Lose to Brewers, 5-2
|
The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a win at Milwaukee County Stadium, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 5-2. Starting pitcher Orel Hershiser was an essential part of his team's success. Hershiser, now 8-4, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Brewers bumped their record to 59-55 with this latest triumph.
Making an impact for Milwaukee was first baseman Cecil Fielder. He drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, Fielder went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Milwaukee manager JD Morris.
