Multi-HR Day for Gonzalez as Brewers Overpower Padres, 8-2
The Milwaukee Brewers trumped the San Diego Padres, 8-2, at Milwaukee County Stadium. Milwaukee left fielder Juan Gonzalez was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Curt Schilling got the win, improving to 9-8. He held the Padres to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 0. The Brewers bumped their record to 60-56 with this latest triumph.

Gonzalez had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the fifth when the 22-year old left fielder hit a 3-run home run. The home run gave Milwaukee the lead, 7-0. It was his 37th home run of the season.

"Feels good to get the job done," Gonzalez said after the game.
