Victory Pushes Reds Record to 60-54
The Cincinnati Reds bested the Texas Rangers by a score of 6-1, with right fielder Bernie Williams getting the main credit. On the day, Williams was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Reds. Doug Henry notched his 16th save in 20 chances. The Reds, at 60-54, have now won 4 straight.

The Reds used some clutch hitting to beat the Rangers, a good example being the at-bat of Bret Barberie in the top of the fifth. With two down, Barberie gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he hit a 2-run double.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch.
