The Atlanta Braves powered past the Chicago White Sox, 8-6, at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. Kevin Mitchell belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, to lead the charge. Atlanta reliever Roberto Hernandez was the winner. His record is now 5-1. Xavier Hernandez took the loss. Mark Wohlers earned his 21st save in 24 chances.

Kevin Mitchell provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the eighth, with no one out and a runner on 1st, Mitchell hit a 2-run home run. It helped Atlanta take the lead and grab the win.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Mitchell.

Atlanta goes to 57-59, Chicago to 60-57.
