Tigers Turn Back Los Angeles, 4-2

Detroit Tigers starter Frank Viola was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2. Viola went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 11-9. Bob James converted his 29th save in 30 tries.
Floyd Rayford had a big 2-run home run for the Tigers in the top of the fourth inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Donovan Osborne and stroked the home run to right. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 3-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Detroit skipper Julio Izquierdo. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The second-place Tigers have won 9 in a row.
