Rangers Lose Despite Plantier's Valiant Effort
The Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds cranked it up at Arlington Stadium.

Despite a great performance by Texas right fielder Phil Plantier, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Rangers by the score of 10-4 at Arlington Stadium. Plantier was 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Juan Nieves got the win, improving to 9-5. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 5.

The tide might have turned with two out in the bottom of the seventh, had not Tom Gorman made a big pitch. With the bases loaded and the Rangers trailing 8-2, he retired Terry Jorgensen, who flied out.

Cincinnati has now won 6 games in a row.
