The Minnesota Twins topped the Orlando Sun Rays, 6-3, at Metrodome. Minnesota first baseman Terry Francona earned player of the game honors. He banged out 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Pat Combs, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 6-15. At 47-71, Minnesota is in 5th place in the Federal League Central Division.
Todd Zeile had a nice at-bat for the Twins with two out in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, the catcher drew a walk, driving in 1 run, which would prove important in the Minnesota win.
In postgame comments to the Minnesota News, Francona said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
