Rangers Continue Skid Thanks to Mitchell, Braves
|
The Atlanta Braves got a rain-soaked win over the Texas Rangers at Arlington Stadium.
The Atlanta Braves grabbed a 9-1 win over the Texas Rangers at Arlington Stadium. Atlanta third baseman Kevin Mitchell went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Atlanta reliever Tom Rowe picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-2. Bob Kipper was collared with the loss. LaMarr Hoyt was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Mitchell had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the sixth, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Braves went on to win.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Sean Norman.
The losses continue to mount for Texas, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
