White Sox Need Extras to Top Reds
|
Chicago got an elite performance from starting pitcher Ken Hill in taking a 3-1 decision over the Cincinnati Reds. Chicago reliever Ralph Citarella picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Todd Worrell was saddled with the loss. The White Sox bumped their record to 62-58 with this latest triumph.
Kirk Gibson, who finished 4th in the UL in runs with 107 in 1980, helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the 11th inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the center fielder was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Hill told the Chicago Times.
