Mets Turn Back Dodgers, 5-3
The New York Mets got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Paul Abbott, but it was good enough for the club to take a 5-3 decision over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lee Smith notched his 21st save in 25 chances. The 4th-place Mets now have a win-loss record of 60-59.

New York took the lead in the bottom of the seventh on a big hit from Lance Johnson. On a 0-1 sinker from Shawn Boskie, Johnson hit a 2-run triple. That made it 4-2, Mets. For the day, Johnson was 2 for 3 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Johnson.
