Washington right-hander Jose DeLeon made an effective start against the San Francisco Giants at RFK Stadium, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Frank Pastore earned his 2nd save in 3 chances. The Senators, at 50-69, sit in last place in the United League East Division.

Washington took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a big hit from Scott Leius. On a 2-2 fastball from Bob Sebra, Leius hit a 2-run home run. That made it 3-1, Senators. For the day, Leius went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," DeLeon said after the game.
