Cubs Beat Visiting Royals, 5-4
|
Eric Karros helped his team muscle past the Kansas City Royals, 5-4. In the game, the Chicago designated hitter was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Cubs bumped their record to 71-52 with this latest triumph.
With Chicago leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Karros hit a sinker from Denny Neagle for a solo home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 5-3.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Karros said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
