Mets Rally For Late Win Over Senators
|
The New York Mets grabbed a 10-5 win over the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. New York third baseman B.J. Surhoff was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. The Mets sit in third place in the United League East Division with a record of 65-61.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Tino Martinez had a game-changing hit. The Mets designated hitter slammed a run-scoring double off Frank Pastore, making the score 6-5, New York.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Martinez said after the game.
