White Sox Beat Visiting Royals, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Chicago White Sox got the win.
The Chicago White Sox eked out a 3-2 win versus the Kansas City Royals at Comiskey Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Bruce Ruffin, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Ruffin, now 12-10. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 10.
With runs few and far between, the White Sox had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Chicago came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when center fielder Oddibe McDowell delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Mark Guthrie and made the score 3-2, White Sox. McDowell went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ruffin said.
The 4th-place White Sox have won 4 straight games.
