Mets Need Extras to Top Senators
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at RFK Stadium, knocking off the Washington Senators, 5-3. Starting pitcher Bob Milacki was an essential part of his team's success. At 66-61, New York is in third place in the United League East Division.
New York took a 4-3 lead on B.J. Surhoff's 79th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Surhoff hit in the top of the 14th, left Washington pitcher Bill Wegman visibly frustrated.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Milacki said.
