Mets Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Oakland
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Gary Sheffield, the New York Mets defeated the Oakland Athletics, 7-2. Sheffield was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Mets. New York's record now stands at 67-62, placing them third in the United League East Division.
David Green had a chance to do some damage in the top of the second. With Oakland trailing 3-0, Oakland had the bases loaded. Green grounded out, driving in 1 run. But it was not enough. Oakland would not finish the comeback.
