Calderon Stars for Cardinals in 12-8 Win
The St. Louis Cardinals relied on the hitting of right fielder Ivan Calderon to stop the New York Yankees, 12-8. For the game, Calderon went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. St. Louis reliever Randy Niemann got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Mark Langston was tagged with the loss. The Cardinals sit in second place in the Federal League Central Division with a record of 78-52.

A decisive at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth inning. With a runner on 3rd, the batter, Phil Bradley, hit a run-scoring double. It made the score 7-6, St. Louis, and helped them go on to win.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bradley.
