Milwaukee used a superb performance from starting pitcher Al Leiter to down the New York Mets, 8-1. The Brewers now have a record of 68-64 with the win over New York.

Leiter, the winner, is now 10-10. In 9 innings of work, he gave up no earned runs on 3 hits, while collecting 11 Ks. He essentially shut down the New York offense.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Leiter. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
