Braves Sneak Past Cardinals, 4-3
|
Dave Fleming pitched well, but his team, the St. Louis Cardinals, still dropped a 4-3 decision to the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium. Randy Tomlin picked up the win, improving his season record to 16-5. He struck out 1 in 8 innings. Mark Wohlers converted his 22nd save in 25 tries.
With one out in the top of the ninth, Kevin Mitchell put Atlanta in front, 4-3, with a solo home run. The Braves went on to win the ballgame.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Mitchell said after the game.
The Braves raised their record to 64-68.
