Senators Win at San Diego, 7-1
|
Washington Senators starter Luis Aquino kept the San Diego Padres hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-1 win. The winning pitcher was Aquino, now 4-10. He tossed 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. At 54-77, the Senators find themselves in last place in the United League East Division.
The Senators beat the Padres in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Chili Davis produced in the top of the third. Batting against San Diego pitcher Eric Hillman, Davis gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Davis.
