The Kansas City Royals easily defeated the Texas Rangers, 15-1, at Arlington Stadium, with third baseman Tim Naehring a main contributor to the win. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Kansas City. The first-place Royals, at 86-48, now lead their division by 5 games.

Rick Wilkins put Kansas City in front, 14-1, when he took Dennis Rasmussen downtown. His grand slam home run came with no one out in the top of the ninth. It was his 14th home run of the season.

Royals manager Daniel Drucker had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
