Padres Lose to Giants, 5-2
|
The San Francisco Giants topped the San Diego Padres, 5-2, in United League action at Candlestick Park. The player of the game was San Francisco pitcher and Ridgewood, New Jersey native Bob Sebra. In 7.1 innings, Sebra surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. San Diego has now lost 4 straight.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Darrin Jackson was at the plate when San Francisco scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Giants to go in front, 3-2.
