Almost There: Kansas City On Cusp of DS Triumph After 5-1 Win

Riding the 3-hit performance of catcher Rick Wilkins, the Kansas City Royals got a road win against the Chicago Cubs, 5-1, in Game 4 of the Division Series today. Wilkins went 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Royals, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.

Wilkins's key contribution came in the top of the second when he sent a 2-2 fastball into right-center for a solo home run. It put the Royals ahead, 2-0.

"We're happy," Wilkins told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Wrigley Field. Slated to start are Kevin Brown for the Kansas City Royals and David Weathers for the the Chicago Cubs.
