Orlando Wins Game 5 in Extras; On Verge of CS
|
An all-important Game 5 of the Division Series went into extra innings at Busch Stadium, with the Orlando Sun Rays eventually emerging on top. Orlando has Will Clark to thank, after the designated hitter went 2-4 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the 7-4 victory. The Sun Rays are now one game away from the League Championship, holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Clark delivered big-time for Orlando, stroking a dramatic run-scoring double off Randy Niemann. The game-changing hit put the Sun Rays on top, 5-4.
"Huge," Clark said. "Game 5 is huge."
Game 6 is set to be played Tuesday, October 6th, 1992 at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Slated to start are Jimmy Key for the St. Louis Cardinals and John Smoltz for the the Orlando Sun Rays.
