McDonald Handcuffs Giants, Orioles Seize 2-1 Advantage in DS
|
With right-hander Ben McDonald leading the charge, the Baltimore Orioles got past the San Francisco Giants, 5-2, in extra innings in Game 3 of the Division Series today. McDonald threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball at Candlestick Park as Baltimore managed to take to a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Kirby Puckett's hit in the top of the 14th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Randy Myers for a run-scoring single. It put Baltimore in front, 3-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Puckett told the Baltimore Chronicle.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Tim Belcher for Baltimore and Mike Harkey for San Francisco.
