Tigers Hammered by Castilla, Drop Game 6 to Pilots
The Seattle Pilots and the Detroit Tigers will take the Division Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Pilots beat the Tigers 10-8 at Kingdome to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Seattle third baseman Vinny Castilla was named player of the game in the win after he went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk.

Lee Mazzilli, who finished 2nd in the UL in on-base percentage with .390 in 1977, chipped in for Seattle with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Seattle manager Robert O'Neill told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Division Series, it's only going to get harder."

Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Scott Garrelts for the Detroit Tigers and Randy Johnson for the the Seattle Pilots.
