Royals Win League Championship
|
The Kansas City Royals are off to the World Series.
By a final score of 3-1 at Royals Stadium, Kansas City ended the League Championship and knocked out the Orlando Sun Rays by a series score of 4-2.
"Two great teams, only one can go on and we're happy that's us," said Jim Thome, who was named series MVP. "There's no easy games, no easy series in the Doubleday Baseball League playoffs."
For the series, Thome hit .500 with a .571 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Kansas City Royals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Baltimore Orioles - Seattle Pilots series. Baltimore leads the series 3 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.
