Home Loss Shrinks Orioles' Series Lead to 3-1
|
The Kansas City Royals have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Baltimore Orioles, winning 4-2 at Memorial Stadium today. Royals left-hander Mark Guthrie was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royals to 3-1 in the best-of-7 World Series.
The Orioles had few good swings against Guthrie, the left-hander, who threw 111 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Denny Neagle for Kansas City and Ben McDonald for Baltimore.
