Home Loss Shrinks Orioles' Series Lead to 3-2
The Kansas City Royals have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Baltimore Orioles, winning 6-3 at Memorial Stadium today. Royals left-hander Denny Neagle was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royals to 3-2 in the best-of-7 World Series.

It could have been a different outcome for Kansas City, had it not been for John Olerud, the two-time All-Star . Olerud contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Kansas City up, 2-1.

Olerud said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 6 is scheduled for Sunday. Slated to start are Dwight Gooden for Baltimore and Rick Reed for Kansas City.
