Giants Turn Back Milwaukee, 6-4
|
The Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants cranked it up at Candlestick Park.
The San Francisco Giants topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-4, in United League action at Candlestick Park. The player of the game was San Francisco pitcher Butch Henry. San Francisco reliever Butch Henry got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Al Leiter was tagged with the loss.
Tom Lampkin had a big 2-run single for the Giants in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Francisco leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Al Leiter and stroked the single to right. It was his 12th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 6-3.
"We played hard and won," said Henry. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Brewers drop to 12-12 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1992 season.
