Red Sox Fall Short at New York
|
The Yankees faced a stiff challenge from Boston pitcher Pete Harnisch, but persevered to claim a win at Yankee Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Harnisch went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. New York is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Tom Henke, Don Mattingly hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave New York the 3-2 walk-off win.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Mattingly said after the game.
