Montreal played host to New York at the friendly confines of Olympic Stadium.

Montreal rode a decent outing from starter Pete Schourek to victory over the New York Mets at Olympic Stadium. The final score was 8-2. Ken Howell earned his 20th save in 23 chances.

Had Jeff Frye not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Frye hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Expos.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Schourek.

The Expos improve their record to 60-79 with the win over New York.
