Blue Jays Get One-Run Win at Washington
|
The Toronto Blue Jays scored a 5-4 win versus the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. Toronto pitcher Frank Wills nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Wills, now 9-8, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Jeff Keener notched his 27th save in 32 chances.
Robin Yount put Toronto in front, 4-1, when he took Jamie Moyer downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the top of the fifth. It was his 4th home run of the season.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Yount told the Toronto Times. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Toronto has 3 straight wins, Washington 3 straight losses.
